Overview

One Event Infrastructure delivered a temporary circular truss installation at the Hill of Allen to support a multi-night lighting display celebrating St Brigid’s Day.

The project involved installing a bespoke truss structure at the top of a historic round tower, enabling a lighting contractor to deliver the artistic programme while ensuring the tower, surrounding land, and access routes were fully respected.

Scale at a Glance

At the Hill of Allen, One Event Infrastructure delivered:

  • 1 bespoke circular truss installation

  • Temporary load-spread support solution

  • Non-invasive installation with no fixings to historic stonework

All works were temporary, fully reversible, and removed following the event.

Programme & Delivery

The installation was delivered across a bank holiday period and required careful sequencing due to the sensitive nature of the site.

Delivery included:

  • Advance planning to coordinate access across private land

  • Sequencing works to allow the lighting contractor to follow immediately

  • Managing programme and crew availability over a public holiday period

Careful planning ensured the installation was completed efficiently and without disruption to the site or surrounding land.

What We Delivered

  • Temporary works design for a circular truss matched to the tower geometry

  • Supply and installation of the truss structure

  • Load distribution using soft slings and timber packers to avoid point loading

  • Coordination with lighting contractors and other suppliers

  • Full de-rig and removal following the event

Our Approach

Delivery focused on respect for the structure, accuracy in installation, and realistic planning.

Key priorities included:

  • Designing a solution that followed the geometry of the historic tower

  • Avoiding any drilling, fixing or alteration to stonework

  • Managing loads through spread points rather than direct contact

  • Working carefully around existing openings and glazing

  • Coordinating multiple stakeholders on a sensitive, elevated site

Outcome

The installation was delivered to plan and enabled a successful St Brigid’s Day lighting display at the Hill of Allen.

The project was completed with:

  • No impact to the historic structure

  • A clean, temporary installation suitable for follow-on lighting works

  • Positive collaboration with organisers, suppliers and landowners

Key Takeaway

Temporary infrastructure on heritage sites relies on experience, restraint and an understanding of how to work with what already exists.

This project demonstrates One Event Infrastructure’s ability to design and deliver non-invasive temporary works on sensitive sites, while coordinating multiple parties and working responsibly within public and private environments.
